Pure CBD Oil: Everything You Need to Know
Cannabidiol, better known as CBD, has gained quite a following in recent years. If you follow the CBD craze, you surely know that there are a plethora of different brands offering everything from “All Natural” to “Purely Organic” CBD products.
But are these statements all they’re cracked up to be?
It’s important to know that you’re getting the best CBD oil. Substandard products lead to substandard results. And here at CBD Choice, we don’t mingle with the sub-par.
Although we are always growing our catalog of CBD brands, offering everything from CBD tinctures to CBD charcoal-infused facemasks, it’s important that we hold ourselves to high standards regarding the brands we work with and the products we carry.
Now, we wish to pass our CBD criterium off to you. We don’t want our customers questioning whether or not they are getting the BEST products. And now, you won’t have to – You’ll KNOW exactly what you’re getting through CBD Choice.
THE CBD CHOICE CRITERIA
Because of our commitment to CBD, we’ve developed our own stringent criteria for the brands we carry:
- Lab-Tested CBD
- Supercritical CO2 Extraction Methods
- Pesticide-Free CBD
- Residual Solvent-Free CBD
- Heavy Metal-Free CBD
So what do we mean be each of these criteria? Read below to learn more about each aspect of our vetting process and why it’s important that the products you ingest meet all of these quality standards.
Third-party lab tests are readily available for all the brands we carry at CBD Choice. These tests allow us – and you – to verify what is making it into your merchandise.
Lab tests allow you to see:
- The amount of CBD in your products
- The amount of THC (if any) in your products
- The levels of other cannabinoids present in your products
- That your CBD passed various precautionary inspections, including for residual solvents, microbials, mycotoxins, pesticides and herbicides
Lab tests are always done by a third party to avoid bias. The brands we carry clearly advertise their results on either their products or their lab reports. Any products not providing third-party lab testing on their CBD goods should be avoided.
SUPERCRITICAL CO2 EXTRACTION METHODS
There are a variety of extraction methods out there, each with unique properties and uses. When considering an ingestible extraction like CBD, however, it’s critical that all the brands we carry make use of Supercritical CO2 Extraction methods.
Supercritical CO2 Extraction has been proven the safest and most effective method for extracting CBD from cannabis. It works like this:
- Gaseous CO2 is subjected to high pressure and low temperature, turning it into a liquid
- This liquid is then reheated and pressurized – Known as a “supercritical” state
- Supercritical CO2 exhibits properties of both a gas and a liquid – It maintains volume like a gas but with a fluid density
- Raw cannabis plants are placed in a chamber and then subjected to this supercritical CO2
- The supercritical CO2 dissolves the trichomes of the plant, capturing any active compounds, CBD included
The reason this extraction method is so vital to CBD production is because CO2 is nonvolatile, nonflammable and easy to control. Other methods of extraction make use of solvents that can contaminate CBD.
Such solvents include butane, ethanol and acetone. You can also find these ingredients in gasoline, hand sanitizer and plastic.
We don’t want these chemicals anywhere near our CBD, so it’s best to avoid any products not made using Supercritical CO2 Extraction.
Pesticides are chemicals sprayed on crops to kill anything from insects to fungus to bacteria. However, pesticides have a long history of incurring human illness and are inherent of inorganic farming practices.
Pesticides, although designed to disintegrate, often find their way into consumer products. This has been linked to acute toxicity, with side effects that include respiratory tract irritation, vomiting and extreme weakness.
Most third-party lab tests performed on CBD batches also test for trace amounts of pesticides. Here at CBD Choice, we verify these results to ensure that our customers are not ingesting any of these harmful chemicals.
You should always make sure your CBD is pesticide-free. Long term exposure to pesticides can lead to chronic toxicity, which can be fatal.
RESIDUAL SOLVENT-FREE CBD
Residual solvents are volatile chemicals produced through manufacturing processes. They are known as chemical impurities and can be toxic.
It’s important that CBD users do not ingest these detrimental chemicals because they are proven human carcinogens linked to various cancers. ALL CBD Choice products are third-party tested for residual solvents before sale.
Furthermore, residual solvents are bad for the environment, meaning you have all the more reason to avoid products containing these toxic substances.
HEAVY METAL-FREE CBD
While the likes of Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath may disapprove, it’s extremely important for CBD to be heavy metal-free.
Various manufacturing processes notoriously leave trace or microscopic amounts of heavy metals in consumer products. Sometimes, this is not necessarily a risk, depending on the product or application.
However, heavy metals should NEVER find their way into consumable goods. This includes any CBD products.
Why? Because heavy metals can be extremely dangerous for human consumption. This can lead to heavy metal poisoning, characterized by migraines, severe joint and muscle pains, general weakness and nausea.
All CBD Choice products are tested for heavy metals to ensure the safety of our products.
We want our customers to know that they can trust any and all of our products. Because CBD research is still a young discipline – with more and more clinical trials approved every year – it’s up to CBD manufacturers to ensure the safety of consumers.
Our criteria for clean CBD was developed to lighten your workload. We don’t want you to question what is in your CBD, and buying through CBD Choice, now you know you have a CBD company you can trust.
